THE OHIO FOUNDATION OF INDEPENDENT COLLEGES ELECTS NEW TRUSTEES HARVEY BROWNLEE, PAUL CLARK, THOMAS HUBBARD,
A. J. HYLAND, AND WESLEY JETTER
At its Annual Meeting on April 21 at the Hyatt on Capitol Square in Columbus The Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges (OFIC) elected corporate leaders from across the state to serve on its Board of Trustees. They are:
Harvey Brownlee is the President & Chief Restaurant Operations Officer, Bob Evans Restaurants, Inc., Columbus, and is responsible for building sales and standardizing operations across both Bob Evans and Mimi’s Café restaurants and working with the supply chain management team to identify cost savings. Before joining Bob Evans, Brownlee held upper management positions at Kentucky Fried Chicken, Yum! Brands, Inc., and Pizza Hut, Inc. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Cleveland State University.
Paul Clark, Regional President, PNC Bank, Northern Ohio, began his career in financial services in 1976 with National City Corporation and served in various management positions until his appointment as president of Northern Ohio Banking in 2004. He joined PNC in 2008 through its acquisition of National City. Clark is active in a number of civic and business organizations, serving on the boards of directors of Baldwin-Wallace College, Cleveland Rock and Roll, Inc.; Great Lakes Science Center; and University Hospitals Health Systems, Inc., to name just a few. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Denison University and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Baldwin-Wallace and is also a graduate of the Stonier School of Banking.
Thomas K. Hubbard, President/Owner of The Hubbard Company in Defiance, began his service with the company in 1977 upon his graduation from The College of Wooster with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Hubbard is actively engaged in his community, having served as president of the Defiance City Schools Board of Education, the Defiance Area YMCA Board, and the Defiance Junior Achievement Board and as a trustee of the Defiance Area Foundation and the Defiance Area Chamber of Commerce. Hubbard is currently a member and past president of the Defiance Rotary Club, and a member of the Defiance College Board of Trustees, the WBGU-PBS Public Advisory Council and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
A. J. Hyland, President & CEO, Hyland Software, Inc., Westlake, joined the company in 1993, and was promoted to president of the company in 1997 and CEO in 2001. He also serves on the company’s Board of Directors. Hyland served on the Board of Directors of the Association for Information and Image Management (AIM) for 5 years, was Chair of the Association in 2004, and was welcomed into the AIM Company of Fellows in 2005. Hyland earned his BS in Business Administration from Georgetown University.
Wesley M. Jetter, Chairman & CEO, Fort Recovery Industries, Inc. began his career with Fort Recovery Industries, Inc. in 1976 as Vice President – Finance then held the offices of President & CEO and Chairman, President & CEO before being named Chairman & CEO in 2005. Jetter serves on the boards of numerous professional and civic organizations such as Second National Bank in Greenville, Ohio; the Celina Insurance Group, the Darke County YMCA; the Greenville Schools Foundation and the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, where he is also a member of the Executive Committee. He holds a BA in Business Administration from Olivet Nazarene College in Illinois and an MBA in Finance and Accounting from Northwestern University.
OFIC is the primary corporate and foundation solicitation organization for 34 independent Ohio colleges and universities and operates one of the largest, most comprehensive and diverse scholarship management services in the state. OFIC member colleges collectively enroll 98,000 students and award one-third of all bachelor’s degrees in the state. For 60 years OFIC has worked to highlight the leadership, value and excellence of independent higher education and has provided unrestricted operating funds and scholarship commitments through funds raised in annual solicitations of businesses and foundations, thereby assuring continuation of excellence in private higher education. OFIC is governed by a Board of Trustees comprised of Ohio’s corporate leaders, as well as presidents of the 34 member colleges.
The member colleges are: Ashland University, Baldwin-Wallace College, Bluffton University, Capital University, Cedarville University, University of Dayton, Defiance College, Denison University, The University of Findlay, Franciscan University of Steubenville, Franklin University, Heidelberg University, Hiram College, John Carroll University, Kenyon College, Lake Erie College, Lourdes College, Malone University, Marietta College, Mount Union College, Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Muskingum University, Notre Dame College, Oberlin College, Ohio Dominican University, Ohio Northern University, Ohio Wesleyan University, Otterbein College, Urbana University, Ursuline College, Walsh University, Wilmington College, Wittenberg University and The College of Wooster.
